The City of Gahanna was one the most rapidly growing communities in Franklin County during the 1960's and 70;s and is again experiencing rapid growth. The current population is approximately 30,000 persons. the population is 61% white collar workers with an average annual income of $42,634 and education level of 151/2 years of formal schooling. The average Gahanna family consists of 3.22 persons. Home values average approximately $142,000. New homes are priced at an average of $258,000.
	The city is governed by a mayor and seven council members. Council meetings are held weekly and are open to the public. City services include water, sewer, trash removal, police parks and recreation, and citizen activities. Fire protection and emergency medic squad are provided by Mifflin Township. the city works closely with the school district in the use of facilities and busses to provide an excellent recreational program for the citizens of the community.
Finally, Gahanna is a great place to live. It is a community on the grow while maintaining a "hometown" atmosphere through careful planning. It is a city of tree lined streets, nicely preserved older homes, and spacious newer homes. It is a city of wooded preserved and rural acreage with large estates the the surrounding area of Jefferson Township. It is a city which provides an excellent standard of living while offering affordable housing and services. It is a city where 30,000 plus residents are proud to call "Home."
